Studio3 offers innovative and fun workshops for those who may want to have a creative jewelry making experience without the commitment of a longer learning process.
- Members are individuals who have completed the Bench classes with Sherri Burch, either at Studio3, A Jeweler’s Way, or Haywood Community College
- Non-members are individuals who have not completed Bench classes with Sherri Burch
- Studio3 is a Smoke Free and Alcohol Free environment.
- Participants are encouraged to bag their lunch. The studio has a full modern kitchen and delicious well water. Coffee, tea, chocolate & light snacks are provided!
- Directions to the studio location in Canton, North Carolina, (Haywood County) will be provided via email after registration.

This colorful and skill-packed workshop is about mixing things up! Participants will learn how to effectively solder and layer various metals while minimizing all the headaches of mixing metals. Being organized and precise is essential. Combining copper, sterling silver and brass, students will create a pendant or ring of their choice. Come on, let’s mix things up a little!

“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards”.
In this workshop participants will learn a backward way of creating and setting a bezel on a cuff bracelet. This clever and cool technique approaches the setting of a stone in reverse to create an innovative design feature. This is one time you can put it in reverse!

Note: Please order 18 gauge sheet for a cuff bracelet. 1×6” is suggested below but if you need a longer cuff, make sure you order enough length. We will be using a disc cutter on this sheet metal and cannot cut anything thicker than 18 gauge, so make sure you order 18 gauge.
Studio3 will have stone options in the right size to purchase if you cannot source one. Cabochons have to be round and fairly thin and no larger than 12 or 14mm.
Bezel wire must be 28 or 30 gauge and no thicker. Please source the smaller/shorter sizes as noted below. Choose at least 2 variations. Studio3 will have bezel wire/s available to purchase if needed.

This workshop promises to be a crowd pleaser. Students will learn how to create a ring or pendant with a decorative double bezel. This creative embellishment will add style and dimension to any design!

There are many variations of bezel wires that you can double up on. The base bezel must be taller than the second deco bezel. Suggestions are listed below but not limited to the list. Choose carefully and give yourself several options. Make sure your decorative bezel is shorter than your base bezel. Make sure you bring a stone that is the appropriate height for your base bezel.

Electroplating is the process of depositing a thin layer of metal onto another metal for the purpose of changing the color, design or surface characteristic. By using a plating solution that contains real precious metal, a variety of surfaces can be achieved that include; karat gold, rhodium, rose gold and platinum. In this colorful Dine & Demo workshop, students will learn how karat gold & silver can be precisely electroplated onto another metal using a pen plating system from Pepe Tools. Simply divine.

“Everyone has a story”.
Storytelling is a social and cultural activity of sharing through voice and gestures and sometimes with improvisations and theatrics. Through art storytelling is also expressed visually with color, texture, line, composition and symbolism. In this 2-day workshop with Danny Wade of Ferro Valley Tools, students will create a beautiful narrative bracelet. Choosing their own storytelling design and initially practicing with copper, students will learn the art of pierce, saw and overlay and complete their final bracelet in sterling silver. Everyone has a story.

Sound therapy is a tool for healing and has been used for centuries to assist us in moving from a place of imbalance to balance. Paired with a mantra or a few deep breaths, a sound therapy pendant can assist in calming and re-centering. In this workshop students will create a chiming sound therapy pendant from sterling silver. The Creativity Project is a 3-day intensive retreat focused on the dreams, design and dimension of creativity. The lucky participants in this 2-day workshop will create a focal pendant with a secret…a hidden clasp mechanism! Students will build a two-part pendant that also functions as the clasp for the necklace. Students will fabricate a hollow form, and then create a second “key part” that will lock into the hollow form. Not only is Jorie an amazing jewelry artist, she is a fabulous teacher too! Skills will include soldering and setting a pre-notched basket setting and designing something creative and innovative around a faceted stone. The side gig in this workshop is a looking sharp element of a cuff bracelet. It changes the whole show. Participants in this workshop will learn how to efficiently solder side railings on a cuff bracelet and add a stone/s if desired. This is a performance you don’t want to miss!
